ChessKaka privacy policy

There is no account and no sign-in. Your games, analysis, puzzles and progress are kept on your phone. Two things leave it: your chess.com username goes to chess.com to fetch your public games, and when you ask the coach a question, the position you are looking at goes to our coach server.

Your chess.com username, the games downloaded for it, Stockfish's analysis of them, your puzzle history and practice calendar, coach conversations you have had, and your settings. Stockfish, the chess engine, runs on the phone; analysing games sends nothing anywhere. Uninstalling the app, or Settings → Clear analysed games and progress, deletes all of it.

To list your games the app asks chess.com's public API for the games of the username you enter. These games are already public on chess.com. Chess.com handles that request under its own privacy policy. ChessKaka is not affiliated with Chess.com.

The coach is an AI. When you tap Hint, Explain or Why it was bad, or type a question, the app sends our coach server the facts about the position it has already worked out — the moves, the position, the engine's evaluations and lines, your chess.com username and rating as shown in the game — together with your question and the coach's earlier replies in that conversation. The server passes this to an AI model through OpenRouter, which routes it to a model provider, and streams the reply back. We do not store your questions or the replies on the server.

Each request also carries a random install id that the app makes the first time you use the coach. We use it, with your IP address, only to apply the daily limit on coach replies. It is not linked to your name, your device or your chess.com account, and it changes if you reinstall the app.

Replies are generated and can be wrong. If you report a reply, we keep the report: the reason, any note you add, the reply, the position facts it was based on, and the install id, so the report can be reviewed.

No ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling of data, no location, contacts, camera or microphone. All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS).

ChessKaka is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

You can use everything except the coach without anything leaving your phone apart from the chess.com request. To ask about, correct or delete reports you sent, write to abhishek@snipv.com with the approximate time of the report; we reply within 30 days. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
